This is brilliant on the part of Russia and China. Countries that have strong economic ties are less likely to have a war. In fact, I would argue that Russia and China have a shared interest on geopo itical issues - to weaken the US. This will inspire more countries to de-dollarize.

It’s still traded less than the Canadian dollar, even if a bunch of failed states under sanctions like Russia and Iran grudgingly start to use it, it is not a rival for the US dollar. For China to be the world currency it would need to open its capital account (amongst other things) they don’t want to do that because no one would buy a poorly constructed unit on a 70 year lease if they could invest anywhere in the world.
